Get ready to sob all over again. The Notebook is heading to Broadway.
A musical adaptation of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams’ hit movie based on Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling novel is in development. “When I was approached about working on The Notebook I had to excuse myself and go to the bathroom and cry and come back into the meeting,” Ingrid said in a statement. “I have loved the movie and the story for so many years now that the idea of turning it into a musical overwhelmed me. The concept of unending devotion and love wrapped up in memory and family is something very close to my own personal life…I cannot wait for the world to hear these characters come to life in a musical way.”
The Notebook was directed by Nick Cassavetes and released in 2004. It earned over $115 million worldwide, becoming the 15th highest-grossing romantic drama of all-time. It also starred James Garner, Gena Rowlands, Joan Allen, James Marsden and Sam Shepard.
