Singer Kehlani Comes Out As Queer,

After repeated inquiries into her sexuality, singer Kehlani has come out as queer on Twitter, adding she’s “not bi, not straight.”

The “Distraction” singer clarified that she is “attracted to women, men, REALLY attracted to queer men, non-binary people, intersex people, [and] trans people.” She deleted the tweet after saying she had been corrected about how she identified the gender spectrum, noting she has “a massive responsibility by having a platform.”

The former Poplyfe member, who turns 23 tomorrow, says she hopes sharing her truth would help others in their journey.

Kehlani also deleted tweets criticizing people would break up with a guy after finding out he was bisexual or ambiguous, calling “bisexual men little gifts from God.” She added that she is least attracted to straight men, whom she also noted were the most offended by her tweets.

Kehlani explained that she identified as queer because other labels, like gay, didn’t seem to fit.

This is, in fact, not the first time she has spoken about her orientation, bringing it up during an interview with MTV News last November.

“I’m very openly queer,” she said. “And I thought that my music lacked representation of how my actual life is, and I thought it was important to be myself fluidly, in my music and not just in my life.”

“My art mimics my life,” she continued. “It’s only right that that’s what I make music about and that I’m able to put that out confidently.”

Kehlani’s got a lot to celebrate these days: In addition to her upcoming birthday, the new music video for “Done for Me,” her song with Charlie Puth, dropped today. Check it out below.
