RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 1 | BBC 3 | Michelle Visage

Watch out Queen Elizabeth… there’s a new queen moving to town. RuPaul is bringing her beloved drag competition across the pond. BBC announced RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is finally happening in 2019.

“It’s great to see that RuPaul is bringing Drag Race to the UK,” Kim Sanders, head of media engagement at Stonewall UK told BBC News. “We’re always keen to see more representation and celebration of the LGBT community on screen and we can’t wait to see the UK Queens make their bid for the crown.”

Not only is the show coming to the UK, but so are RuPaul Charles and Michelle Visage. They’re both set to judge the latest spinoff. “I am beyond excited to celebrate the massive charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of the Queen’s queens,” said creator Rupaul. “And before anyone asks, yes, we would be thrilled to have Meghan Markle join us, as we are already preparing a ‘Royal-Mother-To-Be’ runway challenge.”

Like the US version, the eight-episode first season will feature 10 contestants competing in a number of individual and team challenges, culminating in a weekly “Maxi Challenge” that might involve a performance, a photo shoot or a runway walk-off. Eventually, one drag star will earn the title of “Queen of Great Britain.”
