Roy Moore in his post-election campaign video
After Democrat Doug Jones beat anti-LGBTI Roy Moore in Alabama’s special election on 12 December, Moore refused to concede.
Roy Moore wants a recount
Despite losing the election by about 2%, Moore is still demanding a recount. And in this post-election campaign video, Moore warns that the ‘heart and soul of our country is at stake.’ More cites ‘concern’ for the future of the United States, both ‘financially and morally.’
‘We are indeed in a struggle to preserve our republic, our civilization and our religion and to set free a suffering humanity,’ Moore states.
‘Today, we no longer recognize the universal truth that God is the author of our life and liberty. Abortion, sodomy, and materialism have taken the place of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,’ he claims.
‘We have stopped prayer in schools, we’ve murdered over 60,000,000 of our unborn children. We’ve redefined marriage and destroyed the basis of family, which is the building block of our country. Our borders are not secure. Our economy is faltering under an enormous national debt. And we have a huge drug problem. We’ve even begun to recognize the right of a man to claim to be a woman, and vise-versa.’
Moore goes on to criticize the political process and the role of the judicial branch of government.
According to Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, Moore would have to pay for a recount out of his own pocket. It will cost somewhere between 1 and 1.5 million dollars (about £750,670 or €851,120).
