A streaker wearing nothing but a green hat run onto the field and caused a delay in play in the Cricket World Cup match between England and New Zealand.
An unfortunate security guard got a handful as he grabbed the naked man round the waist and dragged him to the ground.
Security appeared very slow to react as the spectator jogged toward the wicket and danced about in front of New Zealand batsmen Tom Latham and Mitchell Santner.
He then weaved around security staff as they attempted to stop him before he was brought to the ground.Taunting the stewards, the nudist did a cartwheel near the middle as play stopped while security tried to capture the pitch invader. He made his break for the pitch during the 34th over during a break in play for a boundary.
As he stood in the middle stewards approached him but kept their distance as he performed a series of lunges and waved to the crowd.
Many of the players, including the two New Zealand batsmen, looked on in bemusement at the clothes-less spectator’s antics.
With the crowd cheering, the streaker briefly broke free from four members of security and ran back toward the middle. He was stopped for a second time and led away.
New Zealand resumed on 145-6, chasing 306 to win, but England beat New Zealand by 119 runs to make Cricket World Cup semi-finals.Some spectators said the moment got the biggest cheer of the day and praised the man’s ability to evade capture.
One Twitter user wrote: ‘England cruising. Streaker gets the biggest cheer of the day. Killed a good 10 minutes while 13 players stood completely still contemplating life deeply.’
Another added: ‘To be fair, as far as streakers go that was a decent effort. Not many escape custody and have a second go.’
A spectator said on social media: ‘New Zealand should be ashamed that the streaker is more exciting than their run chase.’
