Beloved Dallas Drag Queen Murdered: “Our Sisterhood Has Suffered A Great Loss”

A suspect has been arrested in the death of a popular Dallas drag queen shot and killed Friday morning.

Fayaka Dunbar, 26, was charged with capital murder Wednesday in connection with the death of Jason Bradley, known as drag performer Bianca Davenport Starr, at Bradley’s home near Texas Christian University. Police believe the two met on social media and that the incident was a “possible robbery gone bad.”

Bradley died on the scene of gunshot wounds to the torso.

As Starr, he performed frequently at Rainbow Lounge in Fort Worth and was Miss Dallas Pride 2017 and Miss Texas State At Large 2017. On Facebook, Miss Dallas Pride organizer Alex Lopez Reyes wrote that he was “in shock” over Bradley’s death. “May you rest in peace, my queen! Gone but will never be forgotten.”

Blaise Gordon, a former Miss Texas State At Large, told Patch Bianca Starr had an indelible impact on the Dallas-Fort Worth drag community.

“Bianca was an amazing person,” says Gordon, who performs as Gemini Brooks. “I met Bianca when she decided to run for Miss Gay Texas State at Large and we became close so fast… She had a personality that would light up any room. Our sisterhood definitely suffered a great loss but gained an extraordinary angel.”

Bradley’s roommate, Eric Watson, was also shot during the altercation. Watson, who performs under the name London Starr, was critically wounded and taken to a nearby hospital. Dunbar faces aggravated assault charges in conjunction with Watson’s shooting.
